VITTUC is a two-day national level conference organized annually by IET-VIT in VIT University, Vellore. VITTUC on an average attracts close to 400 participants each year, and the continued growth of our conference has resulted in more diverse conference attendees. At VITTUC, delegates gain insight into the technical issues faced across the globe in status quo and the dynamics of international relations by assuming the roles of UN representatives and corporate entities. VITTUC provides a platform to debate on pressing scientific issues and to draft resolutions in response to these global concerns.
Participants will develop their abilities to work with others who are equally motivated and passionate about the topics of debate and to respond to universal concerns. VITTUC strives to foster a constructive forum for open dialogue on complex global issues, emphasizing process over product. During the conference, the delegates learn the importance of striking a balance between a national (or corporative) policy and the needs of the international community in the technical field. We earnestly look forward to your participation at this years conference.
VIT has many societies and standard organisations. IET, a UK based professional society, works as a well-established technical chapter in VIT. This chapter falls under IET-Chennai which recently became the second largest local network. Under this network, it is the fastest growing and the most dynamic chapter witnessed. IET is an accrediting body and all courses of VIT are accredited by IET. The chapter is a students’ representative group in VIT of Europe’s largest and the World’s second largest professional society dedicated to sharing and spreading global technical and technological knowledge to help the students standout in their careers.
IET-VIT is a chapter organisation in VIT having its own set of core committee members conducting events, workshops and conferences from time to time. It focusses on interaction and sharing of knowledge in the fields of science and engineering. It also encourages pioneering research and the publishing of journals. Termed as one of the best chapters in VIT, the members of IET-VIT have been extremely dedicated towards the chapter and worked up to the top-most positions in a very short time period.
Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master
Honourable Future Delegates, Esteemed Colleagues, Dear Friends, It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you all to the VIT Technical United Conference. Foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to the Organising Committee for choosing me to serve as Secretary General for this year’s VIT Technical United Conference. While I am tempted to write to you all about the United Nations and its role in today’s world, I shall rather save that for the 2 days of the MUN; instead I would like to share my goal and beliefs for VIT Technical United Conference 2016 with you all – To equip every delegate with the necessary skill set to be a positive contributor to the global dialogue. I truly believe that from the wheel to a nuclear bomb, technology has been the only method of advancement in this dynamic world, it has helped us progress from the Stone Age to this cyber-world we live in. While we embrace all the technology around us as a necessary change, do we step back and decipher the real challenges it engulfs us with? Is it really a messiah from above, or is it an Oblivion waiting in the back of our still very human lives? While committees do debate on these issues, we do need a fresh perspective on how we can control potentially disruptive technology, regulate innovations and advancements to focus on improving lives, and yet have the ability to discuss potential "Moonshots" as the founders of Google say. The VIT Technical United Conference was born from this ideology, and strives to make the best of technological advancements in this highly competitive world. This year, the VIT Technical United Conference boasts of bigger and better agendas, living up to its legacy. While current issues such as net neutrality and the legalisation of self-driven cars shall be debated upon in CCRC and CLBT respectively, we have also included a futuristic committee to deal with life threatening issues that may occur due to appliances running on Artificial Intelligence. Our HCC committee dates back to November 1941, a conference that occurred even before the formation of the United Kingdom. The committee shall address a very unique issue that is, ending the World War II in a rather peaceful manner by preventing the use of the atom bomb. I hope to see you all at the fifth edition of the VIT Technical United Conference organized by the Institution of Engineering and Technology chapter of Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore. The 2016 conference will take place on 16th and 17th of April, 2016. Dhruv Rastogi Secretary General VIT Technical United Conference 2016
